FAQs
How do I buy a ticket?
All of our classes are listed on our Events calendar at thebakehousenola.com/events and on Eventbrite at joythebaker.eventbrite.com. We post about upcoming events on Instagram @thebakehousenola, so follow us there for updates!
What if I can’t make the live class time?
If you can’t join us live, no worries! We record every class and send everyone who’s signed up for class a link to the recording of the class once we wrap up. It will usually arrive a couple of hours after the live event finishes. You’ll have access to the recordings for up to 6 months after the live class.
What if I have technical issues that keep me from attending the live class?
We know how frustrating technical issues can be!
If we have technical issues on our end that prevent us from hosting the class, we will do our best to reschedule the class at a time that is convenient for most. If you prefer a refund, we will offer that option as well.
If you have technical issues with Zoom, Eventbrite or your device that prevent you from joining us live, please DM @thebakehousenola on Instagram so we can try to help you troubleshoot in the moment. If issues persist, no worries, you’ll still get the recording of the live class! We won’t offer refunds in this instance.
How do I gift a class to someone else?
We recommend purchasing a gift card! That way, it stays a secret until you want it to, plus the recipient can choose their own class and fill out their own information through Eventbrite.
Issues arise when you purchase a ticket for someone else using your email. Because these are virtual events, the email you provide is the email that will have access to our class, including the important emails and Zoom links associated with the class, and we have no way on our end to add in someone else’s email in place of yours.
If you must purchase a class for someone else, use their name and email address when signing up. We don’t recommend this!
Will my camera and microphone be on during class?
Blessedly, no! Only Joy’s camera and microphone will be on, so you can focus on her instructions while you bake. Through Zoom there is a chat feature where you can get to know your fellow bakers. We encourage friendly banter! There is also a Q&A feature where you can drop your baking-specific questions for Joy. Only she can see them, and she’ll answer them when she gets a chance.
Are classes beginner/kid friendly?
Most of our classes are great for first-time bakers of all ages. More advanced classes will include language about their difficulty level in Eventbrite. We do not guarantee kid-friendly banter, so tune in at your own risk!
Will I receive recipes and ingredient lists in advance?
Absolutely. We want you to be as prepared as possible so you can bake successfully! We usually send out the recipes a week in advance of the class, but sometimes it ends up being two to three days before class. If there’s a special appliance or weird ingredient you’ll need, we usually list that on the Eventbrite. We got you!
I signed up for class but I haven’t received any emails.
We hear this relatively often! 9 times out of 10, the problem is that you input your email in wrong. It happens! Log into your Eventbrite account and have a look-see.
Further, make sure to check your spam, especially if you signed up with your work email. We’ve noticed some people’s inboxes have super duper spam filters that snag all of our Eventbrite emails. If they aren’t in your spam, email us at hello@thebakehousenola.com and we can help.
Do you offer private virtual Bakehouse classes?
We do! Please shoot us an email at hello@thebakehousenola.com with your class ideas and preferred dates, and we’ll let you know what’s possible.
